Attaining God-3
Therefore 'Shiksha' (knowledge of 'what is this') gives rise to desires and wants while 'Diksha' (knowledge of 'who am I') brings an end to your desires. The more 'shiksha' a person acquires the more desires arise in him. That is why intelligent people are more miserable than illiterate people.
If you go to some very rural areas, you will find that people there have not even seen a train. Because they have not seen it, there is no desire in them to travel in it. They are only aware of 2-3 kinds of biscuits that are sold in their village. But if you visit the departmental store in a city you will find more than 50 varieties of biscuits. This gives rise to the desire of eating 50 kinds of biscuits.
The more shiksha (information) a person obtains the more will be the number of desires that will arise in him. For example suppose somebody says to you that there is a new watch of Casio which reminds you of when to eat and what to eat.The moment you know, that very moment a desire arises in you to acquire it also!!
You acquire this information by listening and by seeing. And Diksha is obtained by stopping this seeing and listening. Shiksha is necessary till a certain age. Shiksha and Diksha are completely opposite to each other but both are essential in your life.
